Environment and planning
The program consists of a number of projects along the length of the route from Newport to Sydney CBD.
The assessment and determination of development proposals in NSW is principally administered though the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 (EP&A Regulation).
We have a statutory responsibility under the EP&A Act to consider the impacts of its projects on the environment. To fulfil this responsibility, an assessment of the likely impacts of a proposed activity on the environment is undertaken before a decision is made on whether to undertake the activity, for all our projects, and will include:
- Exempt development checklists
- Environmental impact assessment checklists
- Review of Environmental Factors (REF)
Due to the differing nature of projects along the route, it is likely that a number of different assessments will be undertaken.
Managing construction noise impacts
There will be some noise generated from road works as part of the B-Line program. Roads and Maritime Services’ approach to managing noise impacts during road construction activities are detailed in the following guideline:
Proposals to build commuter car parks and B-Line bus infrastructure at Narrabeen and Warriewood have received planning approval. Determination Reports have been prepared for each proposal.
